INSITE User Roles Explained

State Administrator

  • Performs functions available under the Administration area, including:
    • Maintaining Compact Office contact information displayed in INSITE forms and the Public Web Portal
    • Managing supervised individual profiles, including special status updates, merges, deletions, expungements, and demographic edits
  • Conducts data cleanup and quality assurance
  • Monitors compliance reports, and overdue activities
  • Provides technical and procedural support to field users

Compact Office

Supervisory and Case Management Responsibilities include:

  • Reviews, approves, and processes incoming and outgoing managed activities
  • Reassigns cases
  • Performs functions when a PO or Supervisor is unavailable
  • Provides guidance and technical assistance to field users
  • Coordinates and tracks transfer requests between sending and receiving states
  • Assigns caseloads and monitors staff activity
  • Handles warrants, retaking, extraditions, and high-risk or specialized cases
  • Supports DCA responsibilities and oversight

Supervisors / PO Supervisors

  • Reviews activities submitted by POs and other assigned users
  • Submits managed activities to the Compact Office for review
  • Receives INSITE notifications
  • Reassigns cases and forwards cases to other supervisors

Supervising Officers (POs)

  • Initiates Compact functions and activities
  • Submits managed activities to a Supervisor or Compact Office for review
  • Receives INSITE notifications
  • Supervises supervised individuals ensuring profile data is current

Supervising User

The Supervising User is the user designated as responsible for supervision while a case is active. The designation  transfers from the sending state to the receiving state when the receiving state submits the Notice of Arrival.

If the Supervising User is incorrectly assigned due to a Move, Merge, or activities submitted out of sequence, the designation can be corrected through Manage Caseload.

Important: Managed data cannot leave the state without Compact Office approval.
