On Wednesday, May 27, 2020 Appriss pushed one functional enhancement to ICOTS.
Appriss made the commission aware of a possible security issue a few months ago, where offenders’ dates of birth were included in the body of email notifications from ICOTS. This creates a potential concern with personal information and CJIS security standards, to which ICOTS is required to adhere.
After discussion and approval by the Technology Committee, Appriss’ plan to remedy the issue was to modify all ICOTS email notifications containing the offender DOB to include the offender’s age instead. In the rare instances an offender has more than one DOB associated with their profile, the first date entered is used to determine the offender’s age.
