Ensuring Successful Supervision through Cooperative Solutions
On February 27, 2024, the Commission presented at the American Probation and Parole Association Winter Training Institute in Seattle, Washington. There, community supervision and judicial professionals learned the general principles and purposes of the Interstate Compact as well as how states balance Interstate Compact rule requirements with their impact on the individuals under supervision. Collaboration among state agencies, including community corrections, courts, jails, and other stakeholders, is critical to improving outcomes by allowing supervised individuals to be where they can be most successful while promoting public safety in their communities.
South Dakota Technical & Training Assistance
On April 24, 2024, national trainers attended both the court services and parole officer statewide trainings in Sioux Falls, SD. There field staff learned the general principles and purposes of the Interstate Compact as well as effective problem solving and tips for improving efficiencies with the compact processes and use of ICOTS.
Improving Supervision through Collaborative Partnerships
On May 6th 2024, the Commission presented at the Association of Paroling Authorities International Training Institute in Seattle, Washington. There, parole professionals learned the general principles and purposes of the Interstate Compact as well a how active engagement amongst stakeholders improves supervision outcomes.
Ensuring Successful Supervision through Cooperative Solutions
On May 21st, Wisconsin Commissioner Joselyn LoĢpez & Arizona Deputy Compact Administrator Matthew Poyzer presented at the National Association of Extradition Officials in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. There, extradition officials learned about principles and purposes of the Interstate Compact and considerations and importance of engagement for extradition officials. The session also highlighted new publications offered by the Commission to assist stakeholders during the retaking process.
